Membership in JWVA

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

1. An Auxiliary unit or society must:

A.  Be affiliated with and organized in accordance with the bylaws and regulations of a veterans’   organization already exempt under IRC 501(c)(19)

B.  Be organized in the United States or any of its possessions; and

C.  Have members that are either members of the IRC 50(c)(19) organizations, spouses of those members, or related to those members within two degrees of consanguinity. Thus includes parents, grandparents, brothers, isters and grandchildren, but does not include nieces and nephews of the member.

Shall be limited to women not less than 18 years old who are citizens of the United States of America and are in accord with aims and objects of Ladies Auxiliary, Jewish War Veterans of the America, provided they are:
a. Female relatives of men and women eligible to membership in the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America, or who have died in the line of duty or after honorable discharge.
b. Women, who of their own right, are eligible to membership in the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America.
c. Female relatives of Associate members of the Jewish War Veterans or those eligible to Associate membership to the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America shall be eligible to membership in the Ladies Auxiliary.

Dual Membership
Dual Membership may be granted to a member in good standing who wishes to join a second Auxiliary provided each Auxiliary is located in a different state. She must pay her dues and other assessments due as a member to each Auxiliary. She may vote, on the Auxiliary level, in both Auxiliaries but must state at the time of acceptance of dual membership the Auxiliary with which she will on the County, Department and National echelons. She can vote on all levels in each Department that she belongs to and indicate only that she’d have to state which County or Department she would vote with at a National Convention or an NEC meeting.

A life member who becomes a dual member must pay dues and assessments to the secondary Auxiliary.

PATRON MEMBERSHIP
Patron Membership in the National Ladies Auxiliary shall be available to any person who is in accord with the aims and objects of the Ladies Auxiliary, Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America.
a. Patrons will pay dues in accord with the prevailing dues structure of the auxiliary they join.
b Patrons may not serve as delegates but may attend meetings and conventions of all echelons.
c. Patrons will have no vote.
d. Patrons may not hold elective office but can hold appointed positions.
h. The right of a Patron to address the body on any topic being discussed at a meeting or convention shall be left to the discretion of the echelon involved.
