Carol Adler was born in Brooklyn New York and resided there until she was ten years old. Her family then purchased a Chicken Farm in Freehold, New Jersey, which is where she grew up and lived until she married Al Adler in 1976.
As a child Carol’s parents taught her and her sister, Laurie, the importance of helping others that were less fortunate than them. Her mother volunteered by collecting dimes for the March of Dimes.
When Carol married Al she knew he was a Vietnam Veteran. In their early years of marriage Carol helped Al raise monies for the Knights of Phythias Lodge. The monies went to Deborah Hospital and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Carol & Al welcomed their daughter, Tracey, in 1979. Tracey is following in her parents’ footsteps by becoming active in JWVA and currently holds offices in the Department of New Jersey and in National JWVA.
When they moved to Manchester, New Jersey in 2003 there was a Jewish War Veterans Post in their Community. Al joined the Post and Carol helped him help the Post by joining in Poppy Drives and other fund raising. Carol also went with them, whenever possible, to the Veterans homes and hospitals and accompanied them when they were Sponsoring Bowling Parties, Bingo’s and Pizza Parties.
Carol joined JWVA after their Post merged with the Lakewood Post 178. Auxiliary 178 was in existence but had a very small membership and was not very active. Carol has been a member of Auxiliary 178, since then. She has held the high office of Auxiliary President, raised a lot of money and was instrumental of increasing membership by recruiting many new members. Their Auxiliary worked with JWV and the Veterans homes and hospitals, bringing the Veterans to Concerts, treating them to ball games, and visiting the Veterans Homes sponsoring Bingo, Pizza Parties, bowling, and picnics.
Carol was the President of the Department of New Jersey Auxiliary for more than six years and worked with JWV Department of New Jersey in their joint fund raising by purchasing tickets for several shows at different theaters making the events fun for everyone and profitable for both JWV/JWVA Department of New Jersey.
Carol has been involved with the National Ladies Auxiliary, attending many National Conventions and NEC’s and held many chairmanships, such as Americanism, Programming, Veterans’ Baby Shower and Double Chai Club Breakfast.
Carol has a tremendous amount of love for our Organization and the many different committees that it sponsors, the way they go into the Veterans World and make a difference touching and enriching the lives of our Veterans, and going into the community and helping others that are in need and less fortunate than we are through our different programs and chairmanships.
Carol looks forward to working on the next level of our wonderful organization and encouraging others to join her.
